Firman Mu pelita bagi kaki ku, terang bagi kakiku Mazmur 119:105 (Psa 119:105)
The Bahasa Ministry is a uniquely GLCC ministry started 9 years ago and caters mainly to the domestic helpers from Indonesia who are in our church each Sunday.
The Indonesian service starts at 11am till 12.30pm to sing songs of worship in Bahasa Indonesia and learn the Alkitab taught by a group of members with a burden to share the Gospel with them. It is a simple yet warm ministry touching the lives of a group of young women who are here in Singapore to seek a better future for themselves.
Fellowship is sweet among these helpers who find the worship time an avenue to express their feelings and praise to God. It gives them a time to rest and take a pause to reflect on God’s provision in their lives. Many have come to Singapore in search of a better life, better opportunities and income for their struggling families. Their loneliness and separation from their families and loved ones in a foreign land leave a void in their lives which only Christ can fill. Many are grateful that they can gather together just for the few hours of fellowship and share each other’s struggles and aspirations.
Lunch follows service and they fellowship and chat over a meal. The occasional outing to the Botanical Gardens is eagerly anticipated by them when they can savor Indonesian cuisine prepared by the ladies themselves .It is also photo session time as they pose for photos to send home to their family in Indonesia.
For each of these ladies the Sunday worship adds the spark to an otherwise mundane ordinary day. Their encounter with us may be brief but we pray that what they receive may “quench their thirst that they may never thirst again.”
(Joh 4.14)
